Data Protection and Confidentiality 🔒

We follow strict data protection and medical records legislation to keep your information safe and secure.

Identifiable information about you will only be shared when:

  • It is needed to provide further medical treatment (for example district nurses or hospital services).
  • You have given consent to help you access other services (for example social services).
  • We have a legal duty to share information (for example child protection cases).
  • Anonymised information is used at local or national level to help the Health Board or Government plan services (for example diabetic care). This information does not identify you.

If you do not wish anonymous information about you to be used in this way, please contact the practice.

Welsh GP Record 🏥

Your Welsh GP Record is a secure summary of important information from your full GP medical record.

It can be accessed by selected health professionals in:

  • Out of Hours services
  • Certain secondary care providers

What information is included?

  • Your name, address and contact details
  • Current medication and medication prescribed within the last two years
  • Allergies or adverse reactions
  • Current medical problems or diagnoses
  • Recent test results from the previous year (for example blood tests and X-rays)

It does not include any private discussions you may have had with your GP.

They ensure we have the right information at the right time to make safe and effective decisions about your care.

Legal Framework

We create and manage records in line with:

  • UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR)
  • Data Protection Act 2018
  • Freedom of Information Act 2000

These standards apply to all types of records including administrative records, paper and electronic documents, emails, audio and video recordings, X-rays and CCTV footage.
